'bubbletecture M' is a kindergarten designed by japanese studio shuhei endo architect institute. located in shiga, japan the maihara kindergarten is surrounded by a newly developed residential area. the structure consists of concrete boxes between each of the rooms and a wooden roof that ties them together. the shell-form roof is made of triangular continuous surfaces; its structural strength and geometrical consistency permits great freedom in designing of the necessary spaces. this structural system uses 2.5 meters wooden beams and hexagonal metal fittings, factory-made and only assembled on the site. the integration of the wooden trusses and concrete boxes is geometrical but varied, a structure with rich in expressive effects.

A FLOATING WORLD

The Waterpod demonstrates future pathways for nomadic, mobile shelters and water-based communities, docked and roaming.

It embodies self-sufficiency and resourcefulness, learning and curiosity, human expression and creative exploration. It intends to prepare, inform, and provide an alternative to current and future living spaces.

In preparation for our coming world with an increase in population, a decrease in usable land, and a greater flux in environmental conditions, people will need to rely closely on immediate communities and look for alternative living models; the Waterpod is about cooperation, collaboration, augmentation, and metamorphosis.

As a malleable and autonomous space, the Waterpod is built on a model comprised of multiple collaborations. The Waterpod functions as a singular unit with the possibility to expand into ever-evolving water communities; an archipelagos that has the ability to mutate with the tides.

The Waterpod codifies the language of mobility in contemporary architecture and historicizes the notion of the permanent structure, simultaneously serving as composition, transportation, island, and residence.

As with all art forms, architecture is largely about stories: stories of its inhabitants, its community, its makers and their reflections on the past or expectations of the future.

Based on an economy of movement, this structure is adaptable, flexible, self-sufficient, and relocatable, responsive to its immediate and shifting environment. It gives shape to the communities of the future, marking a new nomadism.

The Waterpod is an extension of body, of home, and of community, its only permanence being change, flow, and multiplicity. It connects river to visitor, global to local, nature to city, and historic to futuristic ecologies.

With this project, we hope to encourage innovation as we visualize the future fifty to one hundred years from now.

Emergency Response Studio

The idea of a self-contained, mobile, live/work artist's studio originated in 2006 while preparing for an exhibition at the Jonathan Ferrara Gallery in New Orleans. I wished for the ability to transport my studio from New York City to New Orleans for a period of several months, so that I could immerse myself in the culture and conditions of the damaged city, and create work in response

Buckminster Fuller: Starting with the Universe
March 14 - June 21, 2009

From his geodesic dome to books popularizing the terms "spaceship earth" and "synergetics," the life mission of R. Buckminster Fuller (1895-1983) was to create design solutions that benefited the largest segment of humanity while consuming the fewest resources. This exhibition explores Fuller's extraordinary body of work, focusing on his wide-ranging and sometimes controversial role within the worlds of art, architecture, and utopian thought.

This exhibition is organized by the Whitney Museum of American Art in association with the Department of Special Collections of the Stanford University Libraries

Esta exposición explora la extraordinaria producción de Fuller, centrándose en su papel amplio y a veces controvertido en los mundos del arte, la arquitectura y del pensamiento utópico.
